This photographer and musician was born in Jaén (Spain),in April 1964. In 1982 he started its career as a laboratory assistant. Some months later, he began to cooperate as a press photographer in IDEAL newpaper, and he worked there until March 2000. He has worked as a graphic correspondent for EFE agency between 1986 and 1988. Also between those years (1986-1988), he made several trips to Normandy, Paris and Brittany (France), where he did several photograph reports. He travelled to Argentina at 2004 where he did several photograph reports about Buenos Aires and Patagony
In the past months he has published his pictures in press publications such as: Tierra, El País (Babelia), La Mirada, Diario Jaén, Evasión, Mondo Sonoro, Planeta ritmo... Besides, he also collaborates with online magazines such as Rootsworld.com, Indyrock, buscamusica.org and the northamerican magazines Rhythm-World and Dirty Linen, and artists' websites as Trilok Gurtu His pictures of Jason Palmer are part of the promotion of the film "Guy and Madeline on a park bench" by Damien Chacelle, screened at New York in April 2009. He is the official photographer at several festivals such as Etnosur (Alcalá la Real), Entresures (Málaga), Espantapitas (Almería), Funk Festival Imagina Funk (Torres), Fiesta de la Primavera, Disfruta Jaen, Premio Internacional Jaén de Piano, and festival internacional de Jazz (Jaén) He had made pictures for video productions (flamenco show by Juana Amaya and "Flamencos Siglo XXI" at 2004), CD covers (Hormigones 1997, Kilema 2003, Nardy Castellini 2008...), books ("Las músicas del mundo" y "Las Músicas de Asia" by A. Linage, Etnosur 10 years...) and advertising posters (Etnosur 1997-2005, feria alternativa Jaén 00...). He had made too photo-books for groups as Lost Sound, Radio Mundo and Pulseritas. His pictures can be seen in art and photography portals, such as arterealidad.com, fotoportal.com viacarla.com.... The exhibition "World women" has been declared of interest by the culture secretary from Parana (Argentina) One of his pictures has been awarded in the Photo millennium proyect; the picture was published in the book "Dawn of the 21st Century", and it is also going to take part in an exhibition to be held in different places around the world. Nowadays, we can see it in Chicago, at O'Hare airport. Several prizes has been obtained by this photographer as well, such as the 1st Photography Award in Jaén Carnival 1992; 2nd one for "Andalucía Social"; 1st Award in "Images Against Racism", accesit for "traditions at Jaén"and also 1st in Etnosur 99, 00, 01 and 02 photography contests. He has taken part in collective exhibitions ("May the 1st in Andalusia","Five photographers from Jaén, etc.), as well as in individual ones ("World women" "Images", "Artisteo", "Fétes des Battages", "Coloured Rhytms", etc.).
As a musician, he already has several records. He recorded the first of them as a member of "La sombra del gato", the second one, as Sitoh himself, is a soundtrack for a documentary and the others with him group actualy: Tejemaneje He had made the sountracks for promotional videos of festivals as Etnosur, Entresures, Fiesta de la Primavera... He continue working making soundtracks for promotional videos and documentaires and music for dance companies as Volans Danza |
